Who We Are

Rasta Taco, providers of street-style taco catering throughout Southern California, has opened a walk-up taco stand in Laguna Beach.

In response to popular demand, Rasta Taco has opened a small takeout taco eatery in downtown Laguna Beach, CA. Previously, taco devotees could eat Rasta Taco’s storied tacos only through private, business and wedding catering or public events.

The Reggae-inspired brick-and-mortar location prepares made-to-order gourmet Mexican-style street tacos infused with Jamaican accents, such as Caribbean Carne Asada, Jamaican Jerk Chicken and Tacos Al Pastor.

Vegetarian and vegan options, such as Veggie and Sweet Potato Tacos, Rasta Bowls and Flash Fried Brussels Sprouts are also offered.

Burritos, Rasta Bowls, salads, beer, beverages, desserts, condiments (gourmet salsas, onion, cilantro and more) and freshly-made side dishes round out the menu.

Off-street parking and outdoor patio seating is provided.

GM Luke Prietto

General Manager Luke Prietto is passionate about turning people on to good things.

He is General Manager at Rasta Taco Laguna Beach. With nearly a decade of local and global customer service experience, Luke is focused on delivering quality.

From our service window, to the kitchen and to the larger picture of our Laguna Beach taco stand, Luke is intent on providing a culinary environment for people to appreciate the simple and time-honored pleasure of enjoying tacos and a cold beer.

Luke is an artist at heart and earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from UC Santa Barbara. When not at the shop, you are likely to find him in the water at Lagunita beach or playing music at the studio.

Rasta Taco - besides serving great tacos - is dedicated to cultivating a feeling of family with customers and employees. Luke's cousins, Justin and Mario, looked to him when choosing someone to safeguard the integrity of our shop and our brand.

Chef Matt Horton

Chef Horton’s philosophy is: “Fresh, fast and full of flavor”. And he makes it look simple and taste delicious.

Executive Chef Matthew Horton came to Rasta Taco with immense experience, working a number of positions - from bartending and catering, to acting as Station and Sous Chef, as well as Executive Chef - while preparing a wide variety of different cuisines.

Matthew hails from Los Gatos, where he put himself through culinary school - while washing dishes - and earned a degree in Culinary and Hospitality Management from Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA.

His passion and skill in the culinary arts has taken him all over California, where he has held Executive Chef positions at a number of successful restaurants, bars and lounges in San Jose, Manhattan Beach, Venice and Los Angeles.

Chef Horton was hired at Rasta Taco to redesign the menu for the taco stand’s grand relaunch in January of 2017. Since that time, his efforts has resulted in Rasta Taco being positioned among the top tier of great restaurants in Laguna Beach providing high-end, gourmet-level tacos and more.
